Just to let everyone know. Corinne will be running in the San Diego Marathon in celebration of Kelsey Burke on June 1st. Here is a note from her regarding the run and a link to donate if you would like.
I’m well on my way to the June 1, 2008 San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon. I’ve been training hard and I’ve been focused on honoring the inspiration of my run, my 15-year old niece, Kelsey Burke. She is a Leukemia survivor and the strongest and bravest person I’ve ever met. What better way to honor her triumph over this terrible illness than with a 26.2 mile triumph of the human spirit?!Part of my commitment includes a $2400 fundraising pledge to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Members of Team In Training have raised millions for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its fight against leukemia, Hodgkin’s Disease, lymphoma, and myeloma and I would like to help all of us get involved.My training will be tough, but nowhere near as tough as the doctors’ visits, the months of chemotherapy and radiation, and the endless pokings, proddings and needle stickings that Kelsey has endured. It will also be nothing compared to the treatments that thousands of Leukemia patients go through every day.I’m in for a long run, but theirs is even longer. Every bit you are able to contribute will help me meet my goal of raising $2800 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and it will also help to give children like Kelsey the healthy life you and I take for granted.
